Currently we accept any canon as long as there is an English translation (fan translations qualify)

OCs are not currently accepted

Real life figures must be from a scripted canon, not real life (ex. you may not app Thomas Jefferson straight from history, but you may app him from the musical 1776)

We accept both Hetalia and Nyotalia characters. The requirement for each is that they have an official design by Himaruya and either one line in a strip or at least two sentences of notes from Himaruya. In Hetalia and Nyotalia apps we're looking for at least one paragraph of the personality section (four sentences) dedicated to canon traits as seen through strips, audio dramas, anime episodes and notes from Himaruya. For characters with sparse information you may extrapolate details from their official design or the situations they're found in in canon.

For vocaloids we require at least two major songs to be linked and discussed in the personality section (ex. discussing what side of Luka Megurine's personality Just Be Friends shows). Currently we only accept official vocaloids. We also accept PV vocaloids such as the Of Evil series, but this is a case by case basis, if you're not certain please don't be afraid to ask for clarification on the Suggestion Box page

Personality: The first impression most people get from Owen Harper is that he’s rude, cold, and painfully sarcastic. He never seems to care how he comes off to other people and those other people pick up on that. This front is, basically, what makes up the surface layer of his personality. Owen often has very little tact when dealing with everyday people, even friends. His sarcasm is a key trait and personal line of defense and he uses it like a knife. Most of his ‘disconnectedness’ spawns from his disconnected mother. This early emotional pain of being ignored is, ultimately, what causes him to push his emotions and feelings down and hide them under a cold, distant, sarcastic exterior.

Although Owen has always been particularly cynical, cold, and distant, this really picked up and only grew worse after his fiancée fell ill with ‘early Alzheimer’s’ that was actually an alien parasite growing like a tumor on her brain. After walking in on the alien having killed the surgeons and the woman he loved, Katie, he grew more angry and spiteful, more at his own helplessness than the alien’s existence. His own feelings of helplessness and not being able to do anything to save Katie, only add another layer of his emotional defenses, or, rather, defensiveness.

While Owen often acts cold and distant, he really does have a large heart, almost too large considering the kind of rough life he lived. Consequently, it doesn’t take much for someone to worm their way past his defenses. This often shows while he’s in ‘doctor mode’. His bedside manner is very good and he’s always gentle with children, patients or not. His very reason for becoming a doctor was to save at least one life, once again showing his more selfless side when it comes to others. However, it can be said his desire to save people added to his cynicism seeing as with every person he couldn’t save he felt loss and pain like it was his fault.

Another side to Owen is his more ‘devil-may-care’ attitude when it comes to his lifestyle. He has no problem with, and often does, sleep around and flirt. Although it’s often women he flirts and beds, when it comes to sex, he’s not picky. This same kind of attitude shows up when Owen is out in the field, tracking and taking down aliens. He’ll often do reckless and risky things even though, it’s clear, he does care about living, only proving that Owen is his own worst enemy.

Powers & Abilities: Owen is a very skilled doctor and surgeon, he also has plenty of experience in autopsies from working with Torchwood for nearly 5 years. He’s skilled with a gun and is a decent hand to hand combatant, although, he’s not the strongest of people in physical strength.

What items will they be bringing with them to Discedo? His semi-automatic, a small doctor’s kit, his cell phone, and his Torchwood I.D.

Third-Person Sample:
The alarms blared and the lights flashed, the sound of the radiation venting in hissed in accompaniment. This was how he was finally going to go. Old age was never an option, the bullet wound still open on his chest didn’t get him, it was going to be radiation; he was going to dissolve…and he’d have to watch the whole thing. He could already feel it encircling him and, for the first time since his ‘death’ he was glad he couldn’t feel because, otherwise, this would’ve hurt like a bitch.

Carefully, he sat down on the ground, leaned up against the console that once let him hear Tosh’s beautiful voice, before the radiation ate the circuitry. He wasn’t going to be able to stand soon anyway, might as well skip the falling part. Already, he could tell his vision was going; his hearing and thinking would be close to follow. At least this wouldn’t take long. He imagined Tosh, sitting there in the Hub, crying over his death, and, not for the first time, he wished he wasn’t so dense. They probably could have been a good pair, but he’d been too busy looking everywhere else. That wasn’t the only regret he had, but, it was the strongest in his mind right now; at least he’d been able to tell her good-bye.

The room went black and the alarms faded away proving that the soft tissues of his eyes and ears had both been eaten away. His brain was next and, already, it was getting hard to remember things that had happened. His memory was going. Desperately he grasped for the memories of the last couple weeks, as painful as they’d been at the time with his ‘non-life’, they were now too precious to lose. He’d still had his friends, at least and it was their faces, voices, mannerisms that he kept going over to keep himself sane while the last bit of his consciousness melted away.

Death had come once again for Owen Harper, and, this time, he was ready to face it, the images of those he cared about still on his mind.

All right, so, I haven’t been here long, but, I hear you’re low on doctors considering the number of people here.
I’m willing to help, but, I’ll need a few things to get started. First, I’ll need a place to work, doesn’t need to be anything fancy, just a place that can be cleaned, sterilized, preferably, but, seeing this place, I know that might not be as possible as I’d like so I’ll take what I can get.

Next, I’ll need equipment, tools, medicines, the like. If I can get these things then I can get to fixing whatever ‘hurts’ you lot have. However, I’ll tell you what I don’t need: I don’t need any overly eager or half-trained ‘nurses’ helping me out. I work alone and that’s the way I’ll keep it.

Usopp’s ultimate goal is to be a brave warrior of the sea. He wants to be just like his father, the great pirate, Yasopp. So his goal is to go bravely forth and avoid danger at all possible, because really the world is pretty scary and he’s just one lone guy, you know? He’s a bit of a coward and will tend to run away first if he thinks about the danger he is facing too much. In fact, he would like to avoid it altogether, as shown by his numerous afflictions that are all some variation of ‘Can’t go to this scary island’ disease. Though when he doesn’t have the time to think about something to hard, he will leap right into danger if he needs to. For instance, when Kaya was about to get hurt by Kuro, he dove to push her out of the way, nearly getting Kuro’s claws himself. However, even when he runs from danger and hides, he convinces himself to face it if it’s for a good cause. For example in the Arlong Arc, he ran away from Chu until he realized he would be letting Nami down and talked himself into doing the right thing. Again with Dalton at Drum Island, when he was initially afraid to go up the mountain, when he saw Dalton’s determination to get up there despite being wounded, Usopp offered to carry him even though, it turned out, he couldn’t do it very well.
In terms of abilities, Usopp is a crack shot and can hit a small target from quite a far distance. His different pachinko balls have different abilities ranging from small explosions to tabasco. He is a tinkerer and will use everything from caltrops to ketchup to make his devices. What Usopp suffers from the most though, despite this skill and ingenuity, is a lack of self confidence. As the weakest member of the crew, he is often outshined by the others and very often he will lie, taking the credit of others decisions or deeds and call himself the Great Captain Usopp as if he is afraid of getting forgotten. This really culminates in the Water 7 arc where he got beat up and lost the money that they were going to use to fix Merry and because of this and the idea that Luffy decided to build another ship rather than continue on Merry, Usopp decided to leave the crew. Aside from all that, Usopp is a consummate liar, as is seen throughout the series, though some of his lies are for telling stories about great battles and mythical beasts and just for entertainment. He also has a childish nature and will readily play around when the opportunity presents itself, for instance, building snowmen with Luffy.

Powers & Abilities: Usopp’s main ability is his sharpshooting and for that he uses his kabuto. The pachinko balls he uses do various things such as cause mini explosions, are tabasco, he can also throw shuriken and fireballs. For power boots he also uses various dials they got from Skypiea such as impact dials and flash dials. His full arsenal is here

Usopp stared up at the shifting ceiling, his eyes long adjusted to the dark, as he tucked his hands behind his head and sighed. Man. It had been a really long day. Well, more accurately a day spent recovering from the really long day of no doctors and avalanches and frantically digging out Dalton-san. His arms still ached from that. He would have predicted that he’d sleep for a year after all that mental stress but the thoughts got him in the end, as they did sometimes, and kept him staring at the ceiling. In the end, he hadn’t even really done anything. It had all been Luffy and Sanji and Zoro and Vivi. Just like it always was Luffy and Sanji and Zoro and now Vivi. Yeah, he did little stuff sometimes and he’d even beaten a Fishman, but he had no doubts that any of the others could have taken the guy without pausing for a breath. A normal person couldn’t compete with them. Couldn’t be cool like them.
Usopp dropped his forearm over his eyes as he remembered Zoro carrying Dalton-san like he was nothing. Just when Usopp had really set his heart and had been ready to test his mettle and go all the way—and so what if he’d been a little slow. He would have gotten there eventually. Though, if he was honest with himself, and he usually was despite what anyone might think, he would have just arrived too late to the party and it would have been an effort wasted.
He let out a breath and shifted onto his side, staring at their new nakama in the gloom. Chopper slept on the hammock next to him, all fuzzy and rounded except for the hard silhouette of his antlers. Usopp had secretly been harboring hopes for the doctor, imagining some little old man or little old lady with glasses perched at the end of their nose, good for sewing up wounds and curing scary mysterious fevers, but not much else. And it would have been the Great Captain Usopp’s job to make sure they didn’t get hurt and be stronger than someone on the ship.
Okay, so he was definitely stronger than Caroo and probably at least a little stronger physically than Nami or Vivi, but it didn’t matter so much for girls to be strong—and anyway, they were…useful. But they got Chopper. Who was just like a kid and seemed to prefer to look like a stuffed teddy bear with antlers, oh but he was also a brilliant doctor, and by the way had seven forms—one of which was a musclebound yeti thing that could kick a bad guys ass. Whereas Usopp was just…plain old Usopp.

What are your goals? To be a brave warrior of the sea, of course! That’s why I set sail! I want to be tougher than anyone and have all sorts of adventures. I… I don’t need anyone to do it with either. I was going to start off by myself, you know. And brave warriors of the sea are braver alone.
How do you feel about the world around you? Hmm, the world. Yes, well you see I once navigated the entire world on the back of a giant turtle. And I got in many adventures, like when I landed on the sand crab kingdom and the sand crabs wanted to take me for their meal. What could I do but fight back of course they had insidious claws and …. Then of course we went to this one where it was in the clouds and this beautiful princess…. Of curse sailed the Grand Line in just a row boat so I….
What upsets you? No..nothing upsets me of course. I’m the brave warrior of the sea. S…some might say that…going to scary places upsets me… Or having our ship, our nakama abandoned because he’s not strong enough to be nakama any more…might upset me. But…but it doesn’t.
What makes you happy? Adventure of course! Naturally. Me…me and Merry are going to go everywhere. –pats the hull- That’s the only thing that matters in life… Adventure.

Before we can make our final decision we would like to request more personality, an additional third person, and an additional first person. For your personality, we feel that there are a lot of aspects about Usopp that haven't been covered in the personality given, so we'd like if you could add as much as you could in an additional personality about who Usopp is, what drives him, what has happened to him that makes him who he is. Try to cover his personality in as much detail as possible. For your third person, the sample you've provided us seemed a bit too grim to judge properly, and would like if you could provide a sample that was much more like Usopp as he normally is in his normal environment. And finally, with the first person sample, the one you've provided us leaves a lot of trailing off, and we would love to hear some of the stories that Usopp has to tell, especially since that's a big part of his character. If you could provide a second first person sample expanding more on his voice in a narrative way (as in him telling his tall tales), that'd be great. Personality: Preston is known to be a rather quiet person, speaking only when he has something in particular to say or add into a conversation. In fact he is one of the most silent people in the entire game, often times not portraying a whole lot of emotion depending on the circumstance. This leads him to be a rather meek type of fellow, sometimes stuttering or talking in a quiet and cool tone of voice. It is generally because of his quiet nature that he can sometimes be easily forgotten or overlooked, as seen in the first game. As a result of this he can usually be dragged into something relatively easy, so long as he is not totally against it. He does this mostly out of a want to be recognized by others, as well as a sense of wanting to keep his head down and not sticking out like a sore thumb.

Of course despite this quiet personality he can be rather vocal about his opinions at times to the point of practically yelling at others in anger if the situation calls for it. This is best seen when his two-squad mates, Haggard and Sweetwater, were ready to give up after seeing the strength behind the Russian’s secret weapon. Now to top off all of this he can be considered one of the smarter and skilled members of Bad-company. Preston will usually use his cleverness in high jacking enemy vehicles, utilizing almost anything as a weapon and being a general handy man in terms of repairing vehicles and using an incredibly large arsenal of weapons and tools. His cleverness is not just wasted on battlefield smarts either. Preston can also be heard making some rather insightful remarks at times; showing incredible intellect at times that is usually overshadowed by his quietness and the fact that he generally sees himself more as a follower and team player.

Preston can also be seen as being extremely brave, to the point of almost sheer recklessness, and never one to back down from a fight. Even when everything seems lost he will still move forward, and through either sheer luck, skill or stupidity, usually comes out on top. To compliment all of this Preston is also fiercely loyal to those he views as a friend or ally. At one point in time he had actually took on the entire Russian military in order to try and save his team who had been captured behind enemy lines. And what’s more, he had succeeded, leaving behind a trail of bodies and destruction in his wake. Because of this loyalty he can be seen as a rather friendly person, and appears to enjoy being in the company of others as well.

And to compliment this bravery and courage, he is both physically and mentally tough and hardened. Having received this from both his military training and experiences on the battlefield. In canon he could often be seen dispatching enemies with relative ease and coolness. And while he does not enjoy or revel in the act of killing another human, if anything the screams of the dead will forever haunt his dreams. However, he has been both told and trained on how to both precisely and brutally kill another man, as well as been told that such things are both a necessity and expected of him at times of war. Because of this he seems to be able to kill and repress any emotions of regret or remorse whilst in the act itself. Although when he is left in peace he seems to posses a very tired and possibly troubled mind.


Powers & Abilities: Preston has been given military training, strengthening both his body and mind. He knows how to fight with both his bare hands and a knife. As well as shows proficiency with just about any vehicle and weapon. Though he has been shown to not know how to fly planes or jets.

What items will they be bringing with them to Discedo? I was hoping to have Preston bring in an M16A4 with a red dot sight, an M1911 pistol, 6 remote detonated C4, 4 hand grenades, the K-bar knife and his combat uniform. Though of course he is not going to have any ammunition on him, his guns will be missing a few crucial parts to them, such as both of them missing their firing pins, with the M16 would be missing it’s trigger and gas chamber. Plus, for obvious reasons, the red dot will not work. And of course the detonator for the C4 will need to be fixed, or replaced, as well. Essentially most of his stuff is going to be broken on arrival.

Third-Person Sample: Preston sighed as he sat down on the snow covered ground. Watching idly as groups of soldiers, and prisoners of war, marched past him. The Russian invasion of Alaska had been a failure, it seemed. It was something that brought a small amount of relief to the man as he began to ponder what would happen now? Every attempt at invasion had been thwarted, so now what? Would he and his friends finally be able to go home for some much deserved rest and relaxation? Probably not, there was still far too much to do. Such as help repel the rest of the Russian forces out of Asia. Then there was a possible march to Moscow, something that excited him to no end. After all, taking the capital might actually just bring the war to a close. Thus allowing him and his friends to finally return home.

Preston, for one, would certainly enjoy such a prospect quite a bit. That is, if they even survived to make it that far. Though with just how much they had accomplished thus far, they had better make it. In fact, he was certain they would. After all, in these situations you have to always keep positive. A trait that he somewhat felt pride in for having. Then after all was said and done, what would happen? He wasn’t exactly going to leave the military, so just what would he have to face after the war?

He contemplated that thought for a few more moments before drumming his fingers against his knees and standing up. That was much too far into the future to be thinking about at the moment. For now he was going to have to regroup with his squad and get back to work. The war wasn’t going to end itself, after all.

First-Person Sample: Er…so I was thinking that, maybe we should try and make our own kind of government. Y-ya know, so that we can bring in more structure and order to the city. Not to say that we don’t have anything like that right now…It’s just that, maybe it would be better if we organized ourselves a bit more like an actual group of people. As opposed to persons who had been kidnapped and brought here against our wills…I-I mean, perhaps we would all have a better chance at surviving this place and going home if we do so?

Just a thought, that’s all. We don’t have to go through with it or anything it’s just that…

{Sighs.} I think It really would make things a whole lot easier if we did so, ya know? So…yeah, Preston out.

Personality:
Suigetsu can readily be described as a handful. Easy to talk to, but extremely difficult to deal with, he has always given the impression of someone with a one-track mind, ignorant of most other issues around him in favour of his own goals. An ambitious soul, he focuses on and has his life revolving around the fact that he will rule absolutely over the infamous Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist, a team of elites from the country he hails from. He has vowed long ago that he would collect the seven swords and lead this group, restoring it to its former glory. Passion for the art drives him - he can prattle on for extended periods of time about exotic swords and the team he intends to take under his wing, as seen when he's talking to Karin, Juugo and Uchiha Sasuke, his teammates. It has been shown to be quite dangerous to insult his passion as he becomes irritated in an episode when Karin decides to mock it. Sasuke has to tell him to ignore it for him to calm down. He tells the stories about the swords with vigour, the only thing that seems to interest him, as seen when he's explaining the seven swords to his comrade Juugo; anything he doesn't care about is ignored or brushed off casually.

Indifference has a large bearing on everything he does. Suigetsu has been demonstrated as someone who is desensitized to the woes of those around him and is ever shown to be lazy and rather lethargic - though this is, in part, to the heavy sword he carried around and the condition of his body - frequently stating, "Aren't you guys tired? Let's take a break." Seeing death doesn't affect him and he deals with problems with a startling nonchalance. In their search for Juugo, Suigetsu witnesses someone die in Karin's arms and stares down at the body with only an, "Oh, he died." He doesn't care about much; this includes killing and his tendency to strut around nude as though he's fully clothed… as this does happen a lot in the manga and anime. Even dealing with his own team, he has been shown to be particularly apathetic, especially when it comes to their feelings. This is obvious each time he purposely foils Karin's plans to be romantically involved with Sasuke. He brushes off her apparent love for the man and even goes as far as to say that one of his favourite things - his second favourite, to be exact, as he tells Juugo in the manga - is to mess with Karin and make her as miserable as possible.

He's rather mischievous in this regard; he teases Karin about Sasuke constantly and even pokes fun at Sasuke and Juugo about their curse seals making them ugly. "Who would have thought the cursed seal deforms people that much? Sasuke, do you get that ugly, too?" He has also joked around to put others to the test, as seen when he's first introduced. He threatens Sasuke right after he saves him from Orochimaru's lair and then backs off with a cheery, "Just kidding!" This chipper attitude is a plus side to Suigetsu and despite the fact that he has an evil underbelly, on the surface he seems to be a very happy-go-lucky person unfazed by the world around him. He's always shown with a smile and has been since he was a child - as stated by Hoshigake Kisame, a swordsman Suigetsu is pursuing. He deals with things that are odd with jokes, almost childishly, and he has a bit of a crude, blatant humour regarding things other people might find disgusting. This is seen in the manga when Suigetsu comments on the deformity of Yakushi Kabuto with a "Is this Kabuto? Kinda gross. This thing coming out of his belly looks just like a huge-" and had to be cut off by Sasuke before he could finish.

His relationships with others are seemingly nonexistent; the only people he seems to care for are his teammates Karin, Juugo and Sasuke. His flaws don't seem to count when he's dealing with his three comrades. Instead of indifference, he is loyal to a fault and has risked his life several times for the benefit of the group; the fight with the eight-tailed Jinchuuriki, Killer Bee, is a fine example, as he lets his team run away while he tries to hold the enemy back. This doesn't put a damper on his merciless nature, however. Suigetsu is said to play with his victims by cutting off their limbs before beheading them, as stated by Kisame who declares him a demon and a prodigy of murder. He also still readily disobeys Sasuke several times, going against the leader's orders to spare everyone they can from death. He justifies this for himself with a "He'll forgive me" and "one won't hurt". It shows he does care what the Uchiha thinks about him. The things other people tell him don't resonate as well as they do when Sasuke tells them. He has developed a kind of possessive nature over Sasuke, protective and possessive. He demonstrates this aggressively, an example being when he yells at Juugo for interrupting him when he's speaking with their leader, "Don't get in the way when I'm talking with Sasuke!"

Powers & Abilities:
- Able to change to liquify and solidify at will to and from the consistency of water (hydration technique).
- Can enlarge limbs and increase his strength in that limb considerably (water release: great water arm technique).
- Can use detached parts of his body to surround an opponent with a bubble of water (drowning water blob technique).
- When merging with bodies of water, he can shape the mass into the form of a demon-like fish (water release: demon fish technique).
- Also adept with kenjutsu and taijutsu, demonstrating excellent swordsmanship and hand-to-hand combat, respectively.
*downsides to the manipulation of his body's natural make-up are constant dehydration and lethargy.
*has a pesky tendency to take on a jelly-like blob form when rendered unconscious.
*debilitating weakness against all lightning attacks.

Personality: Ace is a young adult motivated by the need to prove himself worth being alive both to the world and himself. Orphaned at birth, he was raised by bandits on a small island in East Blue. Vice-Admiral Monkey D. Garp was asked by both his father and his mother to raise him and keep him safe; so Garp did what he thought best and adopted Ace as his grandson and in an effort to keep the government from finding him, sent him to live with the bandits.

There, Ace pretty much raised himself. As a child he was cold and aloof and would beat up anyone even adults who talked bad about his father the late pirate king, Gol D. Roger. Ace hated his father but he hated when people compared him to the man even more.

It wasn’t until Ace met Luffy that he began to soften up. It took Luffy a long time and a lot of determination to wear away at Ace and get the older boy to accept him. Gradually, Ace began to open up and began to care for Luffy. He along with Sabo, another of his friends, declared themselves brothers and shared a cup of sake to seal the deal. From that day on, Ace would do anything for his brothers. He finally had family that cared for him and a purpose to live for.

Meeting Luffy prompted Ace to seek help from Makino, a woman in the village who was kind of an aunt to the boys. She would bring them clothes and food and visit them occasionally to see how they were doing. He asked her to teach him about manners so that when he became a pirate, he could find Red Haired Shanks and thank him for saving Luffy and giving him a little brother to take care of.

So as he grew, Ace became polite and smart and is a stark contrast to his little brother. He is the second division commander of the Whitebeard pirates and considers the whole crew his family. Whitebeard refers to Ace as his ‘son’ and up to his death Ace declared for all to hear that Whitebeard was the only father he would acknowledge.
There are two traits associated with Ace. One is his narcolepsy that mostly shows up when he’s eating. He will fall asleep in his food and wake up chewing moments later as if nothing ever happened. It isn’t said whether or not it occurs other placed but there is a possibility it does. The other trait is his dine and dash prank. This extends from when he was a child and would sneak into restaurants eat all he could and then leave without paying the tab. He still does his as an adult.

He is fiercely loyal to all he considers family and when one of his crew members was killed by Marshall D. Teach, he ignored the pleas of his captain and crew and went after him with the intention of settling the score. He sought revenge for his fallen comrade and this wouldn’t have been the first time either.

Rash and hot-headed, he never backs down from a fight. There was a strong probability he would have escaped Impel Down with his life intact if he had not run into Admiral Akainu who insulted Whitebeard. Ace was not able to let the insult go and as a result rushed into battle with the man. He was killed trying to save Luffy from the man’s attack and died in his brother’s arms.

Likewise, he might have avoided getting sent to the prison in the first place if he had listened to the pleas of his loved ones and abandoned his quest for revenge against Teach. But he didn’t and he suffered the consequences of his rash decision at the cost of his life.

In his desire for revenge against Teach, Ace attacked a man named Dr. Blackbeard thinking him to be Teach. When he finds out he was wrong he let the towns people throw him in the river. He was saved by a milk maiden and in his desire to pay back her kindness he took a letter from her and snuck into a Marine base to deliver it. There he stole information on the real Blackbeard, Marshall D. Teach and managed to escape unscathed.



Powers & Abilities: Ace at the Mera Mera no Mi or the flame flame fruit. It is a logia type devil fruit that allows him to become fire and control the fire within himself as a weapon. Since eating this he typically relies solely on his devil fruit powers and is not seen brandishing any other weapons.

He’s super strong and has high endurance. Even as a child he was able to take out large animals for food while he was living with the bandits. He would also beat up adults that insulted him because of his parentage. Luffy has also never been able to beat Ace in a fight and aside from Whitebeard, Teach and Akainu, the latter who was responsible for his death, Ace has not lost a match.

He fought Jimbe, one of the pirate warlords, for 5 days straight and then survived a battle with Whitebeard immediately after. Even though he was heavily wounded he still had enough fight left in him to openly declare he would never join the mans crew. Though subsequently he did and the older man became his father.

Ace also survived a “baptizing” in boiling hot water while in Impel Down without so much as flinching. Very, very few have been able to do that.

He’s a capable navigator, wearing a log pose on his wrist and being able to navigate while island hopping in his one man skiff which is powered by his devil fruit powers.

Third-Person Sample: The anger flooded through him in a way he hadn’t felt since he was a boy. Not since Sabo had been killed. Thatch was dead, at the hands of a fellow crew member. A member of his own squad! How could he let this go? How did his father expect him to just let Teach get away without so much as a slap on the wrist? No. He would set this right, he would make Teach pay for killing one of his best friends.

He steeled his heart to the cries and pleas of his nakama and he set out alone to serve his revenge. It was lonely but Ace was used to that. Because of his father, he had always felt alienated from those around him. Even if the majority of the world had no clue who he was there would always be someone somewhere talking trash about the man that sired him and that wouldn’t sit well with him. He had lost track of the number of people he had beat up in defense of a man not even he could stand, but still just because Roger was his father, didn’t make Ace a bad man right?

All of his life he had struggled with that question, whether or not he was worth anything. Luffy gave him a purpose, gave him a reason to be alive. So did Whitebeard and Marco and Thatch and every one else on the Moby Dick. But Teach ruined that and he was going to pay with his life. Ace let the flames of his skiff burn brighter as he neared an island.

After arriving in a secluded port, Ace hid his boat and then headed to a pub. He ordered a bunch of food and made small talk with the bartender trying to gather any information he could while he ate. Luckily he only fell asleep once in his meal, scaring a woman at the other end into thinking he was dead and she needed to call for help. Thankfully he woke before the ‘help’ arrived and he was able to slip out in all the commotion with some leads and a full belly. Now he would scout the town and see what else he could find.

First-Person Sample: [Sighs and leans against the tree trunk that would serve as his bed for the night and looks up at the stars, his voice is soft but strong carrying out across the beach lost among the sounds of the crashing waves]

Hey, Sabo. It’s been a while since we’ve talked but I know you know what’s going on. My crew is good and Luffy’s good too. I saw him a while ago in Alabasta. He’s got a good crew and I know he’s gonna do great things. You would be proud of him.

As for me…well I got a job to do. Teach has to pay for what he did and I won’t stop until he does. Hopefully I’ll be back with everyone else soon enough and then we can all move on and Thatch can rest in piece.

Wish me luck, Sabo and I hope one day we can sail together again, just the three of us, you, me and Luffy. [With that Ace murmurs a soft good night and slips into dreamland filled with good food, good company, and the thoughts of a happier time]

What are your goals? I would have to say my main goal in life is to find out if my being born into this world was a good thing or not. I’ve spent so much time trying to justify whether or not me being alive is a good thing. Of course, with Luffy I think it’s a good thing, after all…he is my little brother. I have to look out for him and I can’t do that if I’m not here. Oh, also a goal is to see either my brother or pops become the pirate king. Don’t tell pops but I kind of want it to be Luffy. It’s his dream after all and I want him to achieve it.


What is most precious to you? My little brother Luffy. After Sabo died it was us the two of us and I made a promise to always be there to take care of him. When I left the island I felt kind of bad for leaving him but I knew he was strong enough to take care of himself. After managing to meet up with him again I know where I can’t his crew can and that gives me piece of mind. Also my nakama, especially Pops and Marco. Without them I don’t think I would be where I am today. Oh and my hat. I love my hat.

Is family important to you? Why? Are friends important to you? Why? Yes, because before I met Luffy and Whitebeard I couldn’t stand the thought of who my family was. While I am grateful to my mother for all she did there are days when I wonder if it wouldn’t have been better for her to just let me go. She died because of me, because she kept me within her so long trying to keep me hidden from the government. But it didn’t work, they still found out about who my father was. But without my brothers and my Pops…well it’s because of them I felt I had a reason to live, a reason to dream and most of all, a place to call home. After all a home isn’t a home without someone waiting for you to return.

How do you value your life over others? My life is insignificant, If I can die so that someone else can live on then I am okay with that. I gave my life to protect my brother from Admiral Akainu…I think that pretty much speaks for itself with this question.

What is 'justice'--how would you define it? Justice is doing what is fair and right in any situation. There is no absolute justice as the world government would have you believe. After all, they want me dead because of who my father is, not because of what I’ve done. Even though my bounty is 550,000,000 Beli. But that’s not the point. Even if I wanted to be a normal person living a normal life they would still find a way to kill me. Pops was the only thing keeping me safe for a long time and in the end the only regret I have was not being able to see Luffy achieve his dream. Justice isn’t a black and white term, it’s so full of grey that you can’t really define it one way or another.

I went after Blackbeard because he killed one of his nakama in cold blood. He deserves death for betraying his friends and his family. And then when I failed to defeat him, the world government gave him a position as a warlord for bringing me in. Says a lot about how bad they wanted me doesn’t it?

Personality: At the beginning of the games, Namine is unsure of herself and largely void of her own personality. With a lack of memories to draw on, she doesn’t understand how to display emotions the way a Nobody normally would, through the memories of the person they’re born from. Namine, however, being a special Nobody from Kairi, actually has her own emotions, which made it easier for her to originally be manipulated. Through Chain of Memories, Namine is shown being primarily bullied and manipulated into hurting people. Initially Namine believed this would help her gain friends and understand herself, but it only lead to her feeling guilty and used. She began to try to stand up for herself, even putting herself in the middle of a fight to protect Sora.

Due to this, she tends to take a lot of responsibility on to herself to offset the guilt she feels about being a burden. Because Namine isn’t physically strong or agile, she often considers herself useless and does everything in her power to make up for it. She is always willing to help and often shows a lot of self-sacrifice. Even after her exploits in Kingdom Hearts II and her determination to help, she thinks rather lowly of herself and can be unsure of her actions. While she can second-guess herself, when she gets an idea in her mind she’ll go through with it. Overall she is a very loving character, and takes her friendships very seriously.

Even through her upbringing was different, Namine is very much a normal teenage girl. While she can be shy, she does her best to help everyone she can and exudes happiness to everyone she meets. She refuses to let fear stop her from helping make someone’s day better, and does her best to improve the lives of the people she holds dear.

Powers & Abilities: They’re touched on here, but I’ll chat on them a bit:

- Memory Manipulation: Namine has the ability to destroy, create, reform or change the links of memory centered around Sora and those with memories of him. In basic, she can change not only the links in Sora’s mind, but the memories of him in others’ heads. In canon, she changed the memories of the Riku Replica to reflect Sora’s, and also created an object based on these fake memories (his special keychain looking exactly like Sora’s). It’s also been shown she has certain dominion over Roxas’ memories due to his connection to Sora. It’s been assumed she does all of her manipulations through her sketchbook and art.

- Darkness: Namine has the ability to use the portals of darkness to get around, as Organization XIII does, though she doesn’t use it much.
It’s also been shown she knows how to sew (via the manga), though she isn’t that good at it.

Gently laying her hand on Sora’s pod, Namine wondered what he was dreaming about.

She had put him into stasis a few weeks ago- still stuck at Castle Oblivion, she made sure to check up on him and his companions daily. It had been hard going so far putting his memories back together; the floor around the area was littered with drawings, most incomplete, her sketchpad and pencils left back on the chair behind her. With the lack of breakthroughs, she’d left her work to wait, examining his face while he slept.

“Are you happy?” She whispered, bringing herself in close to the glassy surface. Every feature on his face was calm and pristine, as untouched as the white walls that surrounded his pod and the lace on her dress brushing against her legs. “I hope you are. I’m sorry I can’t make it go faster. I promise, you won’t be stuck in there long.”

Taking a step back, the papers around her feet shuffled and crumpled under her sandals. Countless brown spikes and red outfits poked through the collaboration of art, intermixed with Riku’s silver and Kairi’s red. Many were only half drawn, discarded ideas or attempts laid to rest. Face falling slightly, she reached down, picking up one half-finished drawing. Sora stood in the middle, hands caught with a girl. She could see where the girl’s blonde hair had been colored over red, and her white dress made pink. This was the girl he was supposed to remember. Even if their faces weren’t looking her way, she had tried to imagine them smiling. That’s how it was supposed to be. Just not with her.

Dropping the drawing back into place, she walked quickly over to her sketchbook, pulling it close and tucking a pencil behind one ear. Heading for the door, Namine stopped just before she left, looking back towards the boy kept frozen in time.

“It’ll be good for you… not to remember me. Maybe we’ll meet again. I’ll… I’ll make sure of it.”

Personality:

At first glance, Beatrice has a cruel and twisted personality. She is known among the other witches as a witch with great power and is feared by many. She herself claims to be "fickle by nature," so she often switches her mood from elegant to sinister. She loves tea and sweets, especially black tea and ice cream, but she absolutely hates being bored. In the visual novel's second episode Turn of the Golden Witch, she comments, "I cruelly treat humans as playthings during my thousand years of boredom." She sneers at people's misfortune, also using it to stave off the boredom of a thousand years. Then when it comes to games, Beatrice enjoys playing dirty until the very end. One example is in Episode 2, where she further disgraced Kanon, a servant of the Ushiromiya family, by erasing his corpse with magic after murdering him and then having one of her goat servants take the same form as him to deceive the rest of the family. She is annoyed by magic repelling charms because they weaken her powers and if they're hung from a door they prevent her from entering rooms. She also hates people who deny her existence, which is why she clashes with Kinzo's grandson, Ushiromiya Battler. However, it's mentioned in the visual novel's first episode Legend of the Golden Witch, that although Beatrice is extremely angry at Battler's stubbornness, she also seems to be enjoying herself "immensely" and that "it's almost as though she's waited a thousand years to get her hands on a toy as fun as this one [Battler]." The reason for this is because she loves a human with "backbone" and she believes that it will be even more entertaining to make them submit. Then when it comes to her magic, Beatrice is willing to make a gamble out of it since she believes that the greater the risk, the more powerful the magic. Despite her twisted mind, she is a witch who keeps her promises. She does this because she does not wish to be as low as humans. In Episode 2 she comments that "there's nothing more doubtful than a human's promise" because humans are selfish creatures, at least from her perspective and she is the type to hold grudges, so if you break a promise with her she WILL get back at you one way or another. However, despite all the cruel things Beatrice says and does, deep down she is just an immature child, a little girl who is trying to make herself seem big and fearsome by putting up the “tough guy” (or in this case “tough girl”) act.

Throughout the majority of the first set of visual novels, Beatrice seems like a cruel witch who will do anything to get what she wants, but halfway through the series, her more human side has been seen, particularly in EP4: Alliance of the Golden Witch, in which it is revealed that Battler deeply hurt her by breaking a promise he made to her long ago. Also, though she will try to hide it, when people call her a monster she is hurt by their words and their cold shoulder, as seen in EP3: Banquet of the Golden Witch. Beatrice does all these cruel things not only because she wishes to make herself look strong, but also because she is hurting in her heart, which carries many emotional scars. It is not wrong to say that Beatrice truly is an enigma.

By the second set of visual novels Umineko Chiru, Battler’s goal shifts from defeating Beato so he can free his family from her game to finding out who she truly is. In reality the two things she wants the most are to be loved and for Battler (and only him) to discover her real self. After they are married, Beato keeps a lid on her cruelty, but she continues to make rude and witty comments since it is simply a part of her personality as she claims. Still, compared to how she was before, Beato seems to have calmed down slightly after she marries Battler, but that in no way means that he’s got a leash on her. She’s impossible to tame completely.

Despite all this talk about how cruel she makes herself seem and how hurt she is, or how she’s starving for love, Beatrice enjoys having fun when the situation is appropriate. She enjoys drinking, Halloween, tea parties, and challenging riddles and rhetorical arguments on whether magic exists or not. She’s certainly anything but boring and dull, as seen when she is conversing with Battler, or pretty much anyone. She’s been seen drinking and getting drunk with Kinzo as they taunt Battler through the phone, she often plays with Maria, and she will pull pranks on the Ushiromiya family such as opening windows that were closed earlier, hitting Natsuhi on the head with her pipe to give her a headache, or misplacing certain items around the mansion.

All in all, though Beatrice is rude, stubborn, cruel, and likes to have fun, she is really a girl who just wants to be loved and acknowledged. She is a witch who can kill and repair things in such little time. Her strengths are her cunningness, for she is a good actor and can easily sway people with her words as seen when she is able to persuade Shannon to break the spirit mirror that was blocking her powers; her perceptiveness, because she is able to look into people’s hearts so she can see their memories and deepest scars; the most fearsome demons and monsters cannot frighten her since she commands some of them; and she is a fighter, she will take a lot of damage before she thinks about surrendering. Her faults are her cockiness, for sometimes she lets her guard down ever so slightly when victory is close at hand, which often leads her downhill; she cannot enter any place if it has a magic-repelling charm, or spell, over it; she cannot be at full power if there are too many non-believers of magic present within the area; and her intimidating nature, for it makes it hard for people to grow close to her.

Powers & Abilities:

What can Beatrice do? The better question is: What can’t Beatrice do? She is an Endless Witch, which means she is capable of fixing, or rejuvenating, anything that breaks (or dies) repeatedly. No matter how many times it breaks, she can restore it over and over again. However, because her powers will be dampened in Discedo, she will be unable to resurrect the dead, unless they are small things such as flowers, or candy, then she can restore them to their original form.

She can also transform into a cloud of golden butterflies, allowing her to fly or disappear quickly. However, she doesn’t need to turn into butterflies to fly, because she can use her magic to make her levitate and travel through the air.

She can make a variety of items appear and disappear out of nowhere, such as candy, gifts, or even bodies.

A closed room is no hindrance since she can get into the closed room easily with her magic (unless there's a magic repelling charm), usually by slipping under the cracks of doors in the form of a golden butterfly.

She can kill people in all sorts of ways: she can control people’s bodies with just a single motion of a finger, she can burn them to ash, she can choke them just by making a strangling motion with her hands, she can also command her furniture, or servants, to do the dirty work for her but she will be unable to summon them here on Fortuna.

As mentioned earlier, she can peek at people’s memories, both good and bad, by looking into their hearts. She can also make people recall certain memories by citing the incantation: “Come, try to remember…” Also mentioned earlier, she can take a lot of damage and still live to tell the tale.

To sum it up, Beatrice’s title and magic make her capable of doing many things, whether it’s to make people happy or to make them suffer and squirm, or to help herself in bad situations.

What items will they be bringing with them to Discedo? Nothing except the clothes on her back and her pipe.

Well, this was certainly interesting. Here she was in a world that she wasn’t familiar with at all. What a shame, she was hoping to spend some time with her husband after their wedding, but at least this place seemed to be anything but boring. “Use this,” was what the message said. She turned the device around in her hands, what a strange little box it was. Perhaps she should take a look around here before trying to use any weird gadgets.

Beatrice closed her eyes and concentrated on her magic, imagining that there was nothing around her, not even a ground. However, as seconds went by, nothing happened; she was not turning into a cloud of golden butterflies. Why? She opened her eyes and looked around, there was no one in the area, so there shouldn’t be much anti-toxin in the area. She let out a huff to voice her annoyance and folded her arms. Did they really expect her to walk everywhere?

“Tch.” Beato pouted.

She took a moment to look at the message again. It almost made everything seem like a game of some sorts. A game. Even she couldn’t help but smirk at the thought, it reminded her of the old days, when she and her husband were at each other’s throats, spitting out the red and blue truths at one another. Fun times, fun times.

Then… a small cackle made its way past her lips. Whether this was a game or not, she might as well make the best of things while she’s here. Sure, she didn’t have her magic at the moment, but she needed to look at the other positive things that were available to her. Here was a new game board to explore, new pieces to play with. True, she promised her husband that she wouldn’t kill so much anymore, but she didn’t intend to kill anyone here, she only wanted to play with them a little. Then if her husband actually came here and considered her play to be too rough, he could punish her, she wouldn’t mind. Her sadistic mind made her curious about what sort of punishment her husband would unleash upon her sometimes. She’ll be sure to apologize like a good girl, but for now she’ll play the bad girl. After all, how could a witch like her resist playing such a role? She cackled some more as she turned the device on.

First-Person Sample:

[Some cackling can be heard on the network today, accompanied by a beautiful blond, smirking woman.]

How interesting, I wonder if everyone can hear me through this little box. [A little more cackling before it finally dies down and stops.]

Allow me to introduce myself. I am Beatrice, the Golden Witch. May I ask, who is the Game Master of this game board? I know it certainly isn’t my husband, unless he’s been hiding things from me. [She giggles.] If he has been hiding things from me, then I’ll have to punish him for keeping secrets from his wife.

[She pushes one of her strands of hair behind her ear.]

Anyways, I do look forward to playing with all of you. Please, let us get together for tea sometime~ I myself prefer black tea.
