»Where am I?«
As your fellow kidnap-ees will likely tell you you are now on the desolate planet of Fortuna. Protip: the world ended. The land's next-to-impossible to live off of, dirt and scruff for miles. But there are a few supplies! Food and even weapons to protect yourself from the abundant monsters can be found in the three cities of Discedo, Dissimulo and Spero. Convenient right?
Just watch out for the experiments by the scientists who brought you here. And of course there's always things that go wrong. But what's a hostile world against some good ol' initiative?
»Scientists. I don't do well with those of the maniacal labcoat type. Explain!«
Well you see. It's like this: you were brought to Fortuna by a group of scientists. No one knows what they're after. They don't like to say. Maybe you're here to rebuild the world. Maybe you're here because they get some sadistic sort of amusement out of it. Either way you're here and they're in charge. They're the ones who send you the supplies that sustain you. Without them? Things would be a bit more complicated.
Then there's the experiments. Why they do them or what they achieve is something you'll have to decide for yourself. Another non-talking point of theirs. These experiments can range from anything as benign as gifting everyone candy with humorous effects on Halloween to turning unleashing a wave of insanity upon the residents at large. Not everything they do is absolute, but things would be far less complicated without them.
The one thing you can be sure of? They don't want you to be alone.
»Alone? You mean the communication device I woke up with.«
Yep. Upon arrival every character wakes up with two things: a note reading Use this and a communicator. It's touch sensitive so even characters of the non-human persuasion should be able to use it. While it can do several functions such as solitaire or paint, it's main feature is a virtual network where everyone part of the so-called "experiment" can communicate with one another regardless their location. Scientists and residents. Who knows. You might make some new friends. You might find out some useful information. Try not to ignore your communicator though, left unused for two weeks it'll give you a painful shock. Try throwing it away... Well let's say it has stalking down to an art better than most inanimate objects you might meet in your lifetime.
»Wonderful. So let me guess: can't leave right? Now what.«
That's right. Until the scientists' choose to send you home (i.e. the character is dropped), you're stuck here. On the plus side you can live however you please. Run a bar, rebuild the cities, explore beyond them, hone your skills against your fellow other-worlders or even set to unraveling the mystery behind this place and how it came to be as it is. The possibilities are endless.
The game alternates between slice-of-life survival and horror events (though periodically there are cheerful or silly ones to keep characters from becoming too depressed). Player plots are also welcome and any large game affecting ones can be suggested here.
»What about powers? I have a mean right super hook.«
Hope someone in Fortuna likes you friend. All characters are implanted with a microchip upon arrival. Whether they're beast, human, robot or inbetween, this chip disrupts all "unnatural" powers. If a normal human can't do it no longer can they. This goes from miniaturizing powers to immortality to being able to launch rockets from your knee caps.
Fear not though! Here's where a few well-placed contacts could help you out. While the chip is next to impossible to find being the size of a watch battery and undetectable by all tests, its location is periodically found by the unwilling residents of this place. Talk to the right person and they can tell you the location. They might even be able to refer you to a local doctor to remove it for you (a botched self-surgery would be a terrible thing wouldn't it).
Who knows the location of the chip and can remove them is not a mod controlled factor. It's something that's run ICly between characters and sorted out OOCly between players. We do ask you fill out the form located here to get mod approval before having your chip removed though. This is to moderate game plot scheduling and in-game powers. In addition when a character has their chip removed things get a little... messy.
»Messy. Right. Spit it out. What?«
After a chip removal a character falls ill for the period of a week. During this time they have cold-like symptoms (fever, chills, exhaustion, vomiting, etc). It's really not a nice thing. But that's not the bad part. During this weeks characters will have little to no control over their powers. Have the ability to summon flame? You might find when you really need it all you can manage is a wisp of smoke. And when you can't... Hope no one minds a little arson in their week.
Characters can either sit at home (or responsibly away from other persons) and nurse themselves through the week or they can cause what we call a Chip Event. This is when characters powers go out of control and affect a large area. Whether it's blowing up a building, causing a mass brainwashing incident or going on a confused murderous rampage, there's a section on the chip removal form to apply for such a plot. Chip Events will be approved on a case-by-case basis (usually the answer's yes though depending on game scheduling you may be asked to reschedule your event to keep there from being too many events and plots going on at one time).
»Great. Just great. Sounds dangerous. What happens if I die smart aleck?«
If a character dies they will be out of play for 1 day. The next day they'll wake up in the Discedo Hospital, cold and unsure of how they go there. What condition they wake up in is up to player decision. Want your character to wake up beat up? Missing a limb that was possibly severed during their unfortunate death? Naked? Up to you!
For each subsequent death a day will be added on to the wait time before they revive. So at death number 3 a character would have to wait 3 days before being revived.
»So basically I'm a rat running mazes at the whim of some despotic overlords. But I get to make some new friends.«
Yep. Have fun 8)

»What kind of characters can I app?«
discedo accepts most canon characters as long as there's an English translation (fan translations qualify). We don't accept OCs,real people (real life figures taken straight from history/reality rather than a medium) or non-canon AUs though. For canon AUs if one version of the character is already in play they must be markedly different to be accepted into the game. If Final Fantasy VIII Squall is in the game, Dissidia: Final Fantasy Squall won't be accepted, but Kingdom Hearts Squall will for example.
For Hetalia we require the character have at least one line in a strip or two sentences of notes from Himaruya. For Vocaloid we currently only accept official vocaloids. You can apply for Kaito, but not Akaito. We also except some PV vocaloids (the Of Evil series is one), but this is on a case-by-case basis.
If you're uncertain about a character feel free to ask on the Suggestion Box page.
»Character limit?«
Currently at 7 per player and 2 characters per fandom.
»Activity Check«
Activity check runs the the 1st through the 7th of every month. It's posted in
discedo_ooc under the !mod: activity check tag. The requirements for AC are as follows:

»I have an awesome plot idea! Where do I go?«
That'd be here.
»What if I need to get in contact with a mod about something?«
Players may always PM
coniurati or leave a comment on the Suggestion Box page though if you need a mod RIGHT NAOW mod contact is here.

Activity check runs the the 1st through the 7th of every month. It's posted in
![[community profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/community.png)
→We require 20 comments of activity per character every month. Comment spam (replying to one comment with multiple comments of your own) counts as one comment.
→You must link 2 threads even if you have all 20 comments in one thread. If need be to reach the 20 comment count you may link up to 4 threads total. The catch is every linked thread must be in a different post. You may link threads from either
discedo or
discedo_logs.
→Threads may be dated anywhere from the 1st of the month AC is covering to the 7th of the month AC is actually taking place in (i.e. the last day of AC).
→You may only hiatus through 2 consecutive ACs. After that to remain in the game you must pass the next one. AC requirements may always be given to a mod ahead of time. If you have any questions feel free to contact a mod.

»Explain the communities to me.«
Discedo uses 4 communities as follows:
→
discedo: This community is where all posts over the IC network go. Upon acceptance each character is giving a tag that consists of their name. This is to be used on posts they make as well as posts they reply to. Then there's tags for location (marked *location: discedo/dissimulo/discedo) and tags for the type of post being made (marked *post: audio/text/video).
→
discedo_logs: This is where all log posts go. If you're doing a post that consists entirely of face-to-face action with no network activity that would go here. Each character is given a tag for both posts they make and replies which consists of their name.
→
discedo_ooc: Player and character introductions, hiatus and drop announcements, memes and mod posts go in this community. All mod posts are marked with a !mod: tag and include plots, activity check, the monthly plotting meme and mod surveys.
→
oldmanhangout: The player plotting community, post here when organizing player plots or looking for participants. Organizational posts for IC organizations also go in here (city watch, hospital staff, etc) and a masterlist of them can be found here.
