APPLICATIONS ARE CLOSED
Discedo will be closing soon, and we are no longer accepting applications.

Applications are processed every Saturday. To make sure your application is processed please submit it by 11:59 PM Saturday at the latest. Please check the Taken Characters list and the Reserves page before applying.

  • Currently we accept any canon as long as there is an English translation (fan translations qualify)

  • OCs are not currently accepted

  • Real life figures must be from a scripted canon, not real life (ex. you may not app Thomas Jefferson straight from history, but you may app him from the musical 1776)

  • We accept both Hetalia and Nyotalia characters. The requirement for each is that they have an official design by Himaruya and either one line in a strip or at least two sentences of notes from Himaruya. In Hetalia and Nyotalia apps we're looking for at least one paragraph of the personality section (four sentences) dedicated to canon traits as seen through strips, audio dramas, anime episodes and notes from Himaruya. For characters with sparse information you may extrapolate details from their official design or the situations they're found in in canon.

  • For vocaloids we require at least two major songs to be linked and discussed in the personality section (ex. discussing what side of Luka Megurine's personality Just Be Friends shows). Currently we only accept official vocaloids. We also accept PV vocaloids such as the Of Evil series, but this is a case by case basis, if you're not certain please don't be afraid to ask for clarification on the Suggestion Box page

Megumi Kitaniji | The World Ends With You | No Reserve

    [personal profile] balverine 2012-04-22 11:10 am (UTC)(link)
    Personality:
Megumi Kitaniji is (or actually was considering his point in canon) Conductor of the Reaper's Game of Shibuya. As such, he is second in command. He is head of the Reapers, however also the direct subordinate to the Composer. Much like the relationship between a composer and conductor in music, the Composer of the Underground creates the rules, plans, and orders, and the Conductor must give those orders to the Reapers and make sure they are followed. Such a role requires a strong presence, and that is something Kitaniji certainly possesses.

He is snakelike, sinister and cold. He is intelligent, manipulative, ruthless, and downright cruel at times. He will use anyone or anything and work it into his plans. Nothing is sacred and every life expendable. For example, he uses Shiki as an entry fee for Neku during the second week of the Game even though she'd won the Game. In reality reincarnating her was impossible in the Composer's absence, and so he uses her without even a second thought. Another example is his strategy with the Red Skull pins. He spreads the pins first to the RG, then to his own Reapers in order to defeat the Composer in their Game. Not only were numerous Reaper lives lost, but also the individuality of Shibuya's denizens temporarily.

All the while, he is able to keep his composure, almost always smiling calmly. He is level-headed, even when his Officers have gone maverick and break the rules of the Game. He is very patient with a "wait and see attitude" that makes him seem like a bit of a pushover or a pacifist, but he usually works the results into his own plans. He is a man who prefers to lead from the shadows, but will be confrontational if necessary, as he combats Neku on the last day of the game.

Though polite and formal towards Players and Reapers alike, he is quite an aloof and callous figure (if the latter wasn't obvious). He generally dislikes and distrusts people. According to the manga, as a child he was teased for having a girly name, something that apparently bothers him, but now he typically lets most insults and disrespect simply roll off his back. It is incredibly difficult to irritate him. While not overly malicious, he does still take some enjoyment out of messing with Players by taking their entry fees and watching them struggle.

There is one individual who meets the exception in his regards towards people and that is his superior. As he puts it himself, he is the loyal servant to the Composer and loyal he is indeed. To Kitaniji, the Composer is more like a god than a man. He goes so far as to use capitalized pronouns whenever he refers to the Composer. Basically, if he were to be compared to a born again Christian, then the Composer would be Jesus.

Nevertheless, Kitaniji isn't necessarily ~evil~. A well-intentioned extremist, he does everything in his power to save Shibuya. Again, the end justify the means. He loves Shibuya--it's streets, it's buildings, possibilities, and potential--and it is that love that drove him to the Game against Joshua and all of his actions within the game itself.

    Powers & Abilities:
Kitaniji is the former Conductor of Shibuya and head of the Reaper; his power only surpassed by the Composer and beings from the Higher Plane (like the angel Hanekoma). He has lesser versions of the powers held by his boss, such as the ability to take entry fees. However, it should be noted that the only thing he can't do is bring the dead back to life.

Like every Reaper, is able to 'tune' his frequency and travel between planes of existence; however, this is only limited to the Underground and the Realground. He can create Noise and strong invisible barriers. A powerful ESPer, he possesses passive telepathy. he can hear everyone within a wide range at once or focus in on particular individuals. It's not something he can turn off and on. He is capable of imprinting thoughts or ideas on individuals or on a mass scale via items as seen throughout week 3. Kitaniji has the ability to temporarily stop time. He can levitate, shoot energy blasts and lasers from his hands, turn his arms into tattooed dragon mouths.

And like high-ranking Reapers, he is capable of turning himself into Noise, which he uses for fighting. Kitaniji actually has two Noise forms: Anguis Cantus is his normal Noise form, and Draco Cantus, a massive 5 headed dragon, requires entrapping the Composer and incorporating his power.

What items will they be bringing with them to Discedo?
The clothes on his back, headphones, two pairs of sunglasses (one he's wearing and a spare), and a Red Skull Pin.

    Posting Samples
    Third-Person Sample:
It wasn't very often that Megumi Kitaniji would admit to being completely confused. Certainly there were moments when things would surprise him, catch him off guard, but he generally had an idea of what was going on or what to do. He generally had some form of control over the situation. But now, now was different. Right now, he'd admit to his confusion, his loss.

Right now he was on a train and that was very perplexing.

It wasn't so much that he was on a train as it was he was actually somewhere. That he even existed. As hard as he tried, he'd lost the Game with the Composer. He fought until he ran out of time and could fight no more. Neku Sakuraba, the Composer's Proxy, had been a formidable opponent indeed. He was absolutely clueless--laughably so--until the very end, but formidable nonetheless. After all, he had been defeated by the boy a grand total of three times in the same day. Something that would have hurt an average man's ego considerably.

The former Conductor shouldn't have been able to be there, sitting on that train, aware of the world around him. He knew better than to assume it was some sort of afterlife, he'd already had his own afterlife. There was nothing after Erasure. Only the void had awaited him. No, someone wanted him around for some reason. He'd been somehow abducted back into existence. But for what and by whom, he hadn't the faintest idea.

Megumi pushed his sunglasses up the bridge of his nose, looking out the window. There was nothing remarkable to look at, of course. He wished he had a book, something to keep his mind from wandering too far into the "what-ifs" until he arrived at his destination.

It wasn't like he had anywhere (or anything for that matter) to return to.

[The guide turns on, angled upward from his elbow. He's looking downward, his arm quickly moving. He's very much used to paperwork by now.

He stops writing, his typical facial expression temporarily wavering.]

... The easy button? [he sighs, muttering under his breath.] When You said You were going to destroy it, this isn't quite what I imagined. I suppose it isn't my place to judge.

[His typical, smirky demeanor returns and he finishes off the last of the paperwork. He stacks them neatly before looking over his shoulder.]

.... Hah. [internal facepalm.] Figures. [His free hand covers the lens before turning the guide off.]

    Oops. I'm sorry!

    First-Person Sample:
[Megumi eyes the mass of Reapers through the dark shades. Konishi at his side while the rest stand before him. It would seem everyone is there, waiting and talking amongst themselves.

He clears his throat. His officer and once loyal right-hand man… woman, hushes them.
    ]

Only a week after joining us, Daisukenojo Biito has betrayed us by forming a pact with the Player Neku Sakuraba. This grave treason cannot be taken lightly. Our numbers have dwindled enough as is. Daisukenojo's betrayal could threaten the very existence of the UG. I see no other choice but to issue an Emergency Call.

    [He pauses.]

Each of you will be equipped with an O-Pin in order to deal with the renegade. [He pulls a red pin from his pocket.] They will increase your performance. You must wear them at all times.

I expect you to show no mercy and Erase them both as soon as possible. Rest assured, [he grins] you will be well-rewarded for your work.
