Re: REQUEST

Oh sure, sorry about that:

After killing the girl he loves, an old friend, blinding a potential rival(though by his knowledge Sollux could be as good as dead), AND destroying all hope for their species, Eridan's state-of-mind isn't what one would probably call stable. By no means does this mean he's a wack-job of course, but rather that he's allowed his own bitterness and hate to take over for his decisions. Those decisions still being very much his own, of course, but with nothing left to lose, he definitely plans on continuing with the very plot he presented to Feferi. For as much as he may have not felt like part of the group before, or that he didn't owe them a lick of anything, he feels it exponentially more so now. It's every troll for themselves, and being a troll of his standing, he honestly has every right to act as he did,by his own frame of reference.

See, what Eridan's intention was in saving himself and Feferi, was doing what was right for their species, though it was entirely selfish as well. Eridan is definitely a villainous character through and through, but with that said, he isn't evil. Just a self-absorbed, egotist, with a conditioned and twisted view, so with his race abandoned, a race without any hope(Or so he declares), he strives for his own survival, and if that means killing those he once saw as friends along the way, so be it. It's only right that royalty survives, after all, it's his place as the ruling class, but also as the Prince of Hope, to be the last to survive. With that said, he's hardly feeling remorse for his actions, if anything, justified in his own way. He sought civility with Feferi, but Sollux was the one who provoked him, the fight wasn't something he brought, but something he finished, or so that's how he sees it.

If anything, it merely fulled that hate and bitterness that he's been stewing on for a good part of his time in the game, solidifying those feelings and giving him more of an excuse to see himself as not the villain in this, but the victim.
